Musicians of the Month
March and April 2024
This year the Haskett Junior High is very excited to recognize the Varsity and Non Varsity Orchestra students for earning UIL Sweepstakes ratings at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest for Varsity & Non Varsity Strings as well as Full Orchestra!
The UIL Concert and Sightreading competition consists of two parts: students perform a prepared concert for a group of judges and are given a rating based on their demonstration of technical and musical concepts and skills. They then are given a piece of music they have never seen before and must read it at sight for a group of judges.
These students received the highest ratings possible ratings in both their concert and sightreading--"sweeping" both categories. This earned the coveted Sweepstakes Trophy for all three ensembles.
This is the third sweepstakes for strings and first ever Full Orchestra sweepstakes for Haskett Junior High Orchestra.
